Hot from the Kiln

The most exciting moment in a potters life is when you open the kiln and see how the pots have survived the ordeal of very high temperatures.

	帆板風水 Fan Ban Feng Shui platter. Wide dish with windsurfer motif and Japanese characters that say Fan Ban Feng (the "e" in feng is pronounced as the "u" in "full" ) Shui - Sail Board Wind Water . The 4 basic elements of windsurfing surround the windsurfer (balancing in the centre of these 4 primary elements). The windsurfer "board" is a roast meat gravy collector Thrown in one piece on new specially larger bats that sit above the wheel to clear the sides.
	Wide lagoon dish. This dish was very shallow, and the overhang was a bit too severe for the pot to hold up in the kiln. One side gently subsided, and so the turquoise glaze ran down the inside in a unsymetrical pattern. The final result is fine as the pot never subsided all the way to the kiln shelf, a lucky result
